Overview

Corbins Electric is excited to be adding a new member to the Corbins team. We are currently hiring a Safety Coordinator for our New Mexico office. The Safety Coordinator will coordinate safety program requirements to maintain a safe work environment

Responsibilities

Safety Coordinator duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintain a consistent and positively perceived presence among the workforce
  • Regularly poll workforce to identify any safety needs, documenting any gaps and actions taken
  • Conduct and document regular and thorough inspections of project work areas for safety compliance
  • Motivate, coach, and train employees in safe work practices and required processes
  • Prepare inspection, and incident documentation to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
  • Participate in post incident reviews, corrective actions, and verification of effectiveness
  • Assist Safety Leadership with training presentations, investigations, inspections, reporting, and follow up
  • Assist Safety Leadership in training employees to recognize and control hazards
  • Regularly communication of safety initiatives and results to Safety Director
  • Assist in developing and communicating procedures, bulletins, & other safety information to employees
  • Regularly participate site safety meetings and pre-task planning to evaluate effectiveness and coach improvement opportunities
  • Regularly inspect PPE and other work related tools and equipment for proper suitability for use. Document inspection dates, observations and any corrective action taken (or needed) to Safety Director

Education and functional requirements:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • 3 – 5 years construction industry / safety related experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Direct knowledge and experience with electrical subcontracting trade and/or knowledge of General Construction process
  • Successful completion and maintaining current certification of industry related training including SSTA; OSHA 500 (Construction)
  • Successful completion of Corbins specific in-house training including EEW; Competent Person; CPR / First Aid, Defensive Driving, and / or any other safety related training opportunities as requested by Safety Director

  • Adept at speaking in public
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment, flexible and adaptable to changes to planned tasks or schedule
  • Energetic, self-starter, ability to positively motivate employees.
  • Effectively establish reliable rapport with crew members, other site personnel and CE customers.
  • Ability to maintain a positive leadership position at all times
  • Thorough knowledge, demonstration and modeling of Company’s policies (including Safety), procedures, and other requirements, leadership capabilities, communication skills and an understanding of the importance of providing positive leadership
  • Bilingual preferred but not required (English and Spanish)
