Overview

Corbins Electric is excited to be adding a new member to the Corbins team. We are currently hiring an Estimator to assist our current team.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions/Tasks:

  • Review all bid proposal documents, including but not limited to project plans, specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
  • Review and consider historical data from prior jobs in progress and / or completed as relates to bid proposal needs / requirements
  • Prepare bid proposals / estimates by calculating complete take off of electrical scope of work
  • Apply Gross Profit percentage to estimates to meet company goals
  • Participate in bid related presentations and submittal of qualification information
  • Maintain files of working documents as back up for estimate amounts, including accurate information on pricing from vendors, suppliers and subcontractors as applicable on a per project basis
  • Support other departments and / or personnel as required in preparing estimates, related change orders and other job costing factors
  • Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, and / or availability of materials or equipment
  • Participate in pre-bid job site inspections and / or job walks
  • Participate in project related pre and post bid meetings
  • Participate in job progress and / or close out meetings
  • Evaluate competition
  • Initiate, develop and maintain working relationships with clients, design professionals, subcontractors and vendors
  • Perform additional job related assignments as directed by Director of Estimating

Training and Functional Requirements:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • 3 - 5 years combined electrical field and estimating experience
  • Working knowledge of contract documents including blueprints, drawings, schematics
  • Demonstrated commitment to education and training of department staff and project personnel
  • Familiarity with all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods, etc.) as well as an understanding of Company and industry practices, processes and standards and their impact on project activities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio and Power Point), Accubid estimating software

Skills:

  • Professional verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Good organizational skills, detail oriented, ability to multi-task and recognize errors or other inconsistencies with project related costs and scope
  • Team player, ability to recognize how individual actions affect the team as a whole
  • Adept at speaking in public
  • Ability to accurately estimate projects/contracts of various size and complexity
  • Ability to coordinate and supervise group work effort
  • Ability to prepare detailed, accurate bid proposals and / or change orders with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment, flexible and adaptable to changes to planned tasks or schedule
  • Thorough knowledge, demonstration and modeling of Company’s policies (including Safety), procedures, and other requirements, leadership capabilities, communication skills and an understanding of the importance of providing positive leadership

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to work 40 hours per week and overtime if required
  • Ability to lift and / or carry 20 lbs unassisted
  • May require repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers
  • May require prolonged periods of sitting throughout workday
  • May be exposed to job site conditions during inclement weather
  • Valid driver license and proof of insurability when job duties require use of motor vehicle
  • Requires exercising of discretion in decision making process and maintaining of strict confidentiality with respect to applicant, employee, and company proprietary information
  • Must present professional image of Corbins Electric at all times by promoting and exemplifying Company’s established core values
