Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary function of this position is to develop and maintain a qualified field workforce to support Corbins Electric’s ongoing construction operations. Manage all aspects of Safety, Quality Control, and Productivity for Corbins Electric’s projects.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

MAN-POWER:

  • Work directly with HR in the process and standards development for Corbins hiring procedures.
  • Identify hiring needs through manpower projections for all markets.
  • Continuously work to source potential candidates for all field positions from a variety of sources including technical/trade schools, competitors, post military, etc.
  • Actively work with Apprenticeship Training Program as a source for potential new hires.
  • Develop and implement testing standards and evaluation criteria for new hire candidates.
  • Perform candidate evaluations and make selections for hire.
  • Ensure on-boarding processes are adhered to including appropriate safety training provided prior to new employee starting work.
  • Manage relationships with IEC borrowed worker program and contract staffing agencies for utilization of temporary workers if neede

 

TEAM DEVELOPMENT:

  • Develop and maintain an on-going field evaluation program.
  • Ensure field evaluations are performed on all craft level employees monthly at a minimum.
  • Perform evaluations for Area Superintendents quarterly, at a minimum.
  • Develop and maintain professional development plans for all Area Superintendents.
  • Facilitate the mentorship of Apprentice level employees on career development and provide direction and coaching through their program requirements.
  • Coordinate and facilitate quarterly Foreman’s Meetings, incorporating training and updates related to all of Corbin’s business functions, industry topics, skills development, and leadership development.

 

PRE-CONSTRUCTION:

  • Participate in take-offs or other estimate preparation activities as requested by Operations Manager.
  • Participate in the review of project estimates as requested.

 

PROJECT PLANNING:

  • Participate in the Project Plan Development for all projects over 5000 man hours.
  • Assist in the development of production tracking systems for projects over 5000 man hours.
  • Review and approve project specific staffing plans created by Area Superintendent(s) during Project Plan Development.

 

PROJECT EXECUTION:

  • Work directly with engineering, prefabrication, and field support functions to ensure process compliance and internal standards are maintained by all project teams.
  • Facilitate coaching and training for field crews and field leadership on company and industry best practices, standards, and requirements. (i.e. NEC, NFPA 70E, company policies and procedures)
  • Assist in the evaluation of project progress for analysis and reporting of percentage complete – or cost to complete.
  • Maintain a competitive composite labor rate relative to the areas and markets of Corbins work.

 

SAFETY:

  • Work directly with the company’s Corporate Safety Director in the development and implementation of Corbin Electric’s safety standards, policies, procedures, and training.
  • Provide coaching, training, and guidance to Corbins field crews on all matters related to job site safety.
  • Work with Safety Director to provide leadership and guidance through reporting, correction, and resolution of all safety related incident

 

QUALITY CONTROL:

  • Develop and implement Corbins’ quality control standards and practices.
  • Provide coaching, training, and guidance to field leadership and field crews on quality control standards.

 

EMPLOYEE RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Always promote a positive company image to the field leadership and workforce at Corbins Electric.
  • Ensure that the field leadership within you area(s) of responsibility promote a positive company image to the field workforce.
  • Voice any issues or concerns you have with company processes, policies, or leadership to the General Superintendent or their direct manager.

 

CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with on-site customer representatives.
  • Promote Corbins Electric in a positive light at all times when dealing with customers, trade partners, subcontractors, and other industry professionals.
  • Ensure professional resolution of escalated field related issues and customer satisfaction.
  • Actively participate in industry events to represent and promote Corbins Electric, quarterly at a minimum.
  • Carry out other initiative and perform other duties as requested by Executive Leadership Team.
